22 years ago when Michael Jackson was a much younger man, he participated in a 60th anniversary tribute to one of his idols, the great Sammy Davis, Jr. Luckily, he was able to do so while Mr. Davis was still alive. He even wrote a special song for him called “Yes, I Am Here Because You Were There.” I wish MJ would have been able to do the same thing for his other great idol, James Brown. He did get to present JB with an award or two, though. Time just wasn’t on their side.
